It’s still 2017 yet I’m already eagerly anticipating (read: drooling over) so many books that are coming out in 2018! I’ve almost come to terms with the fact that my TBR list will never end. That being said, I definitely have more than ten books coming out in the next twelve months that I’m excited to read. But here are ten that I can barely wait to get my hands on. (I’m already contemplating which ones I’ll be purchasing and which ones I already have on hold from the library.)
(This week’s prompt for Top Ten Tuesday is Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward to In 2018. [These could be new releases, or books you resolve to read, ten debuts we are looking forward to, etc.])
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black: I’ve actually only read one book by Holly Black and it was a middle grade novel that’s completely different than The Cruel Prince. But I keep seeing stuff about The Cruel Prince pop up and the cover looks gorgeous and I just really want to read it. I already have it on hold from my library and I have a high suspicion it’s the January Owlcrate selection.
Wires and Nerve Vol. 2: Gone Rogue by Marissa Meyer: Since I love The Lunar Chronicles, it comes as no surprise that the second volume of Wires and Nerve is high on my list for 2018. I’m excited to see what is in store for Iko and the rest of the gang in what might be the last Lunar Chronicles book ever. *sad face*
Reclaiming Shilo Snow by Mary Weber: After the way The Evaporation of Sofi Snow ended, I need this book ASAP. Mary Weber is one of my favorite authors and I’m excited to see how this story turns out!
Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff: I have been waiting over a year and half for this book. I thought it was coming out at the end of 2017, but I was wrong. I need it. ASAP.
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir: Just like with Obsidio, I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for this book to release. To be honest, though, I don’t really remember what happened during book two, so I might have to reread the first two books before reading this one. But I’m still excited.
The Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor: This book doesn’t have a release date yet, so I’m hoping it comes out in 2018 because I need it. I need to know what the frick frack paddy whack is going to happen with precious cinnamon roll Lazlo Strange. Gosh.
This Splintered Silence by Kayla Olson: The Sandcastle Empire blew me away, so it comes as no surprise that I cannot wait to read Kayla Olson’s next book, This Splintered Silence. I’ll be eagerly waiting for its release in the fall of 2018.
The Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli: After reading The Last Namsara, I’m excited to continue the story in the sequel/companion novel, The Caged Queen. I just need more of this story, this world, these characters, and those dragons!
The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan: As always, I’m stoked to read yet another Rick Riordan book. The Burning Maze is the third book in the Trials of Apollo series. While I don’t enjoy this series nearly as much as I enjoyed Percy Jackson or the Heroes of Olympus, I still can’t wait to see what trouble Apollo gets himself into this time.
Kingdom of the Blazing Phoenix by Julie C. Dao: This book is the sequel to Forest of a Thousand Lanterns, which was a brilliant prequel retelling of the Snow White fairy tale. I’m looking forward to how Dao continues this story and brings in more East Asian aspects to this classic tale.
Of course, there are a ton of other books coming out in 2018 that I want to read. There are several sequels that I desperately need, such as the sequel to Renegades, The Last Magician, Warcross, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, and the Kinsman Chronicles. Many of these books don’t even have titles or official release dates, so I’m crossing my fingers that they’ll be released in 2018. And of course, there are a lot of new series and debut books that I already have my eye on, so it looks like 2018 is going to be a busy year for reading! (As always, right?)
I agree, I have to decide which books to buy and which ones to get from the library. Fun list! Happy reading in 2018!

Most of the books I read are from the library, for sure. But when it’s a series I love or by an author I know I’ll like, I try to buy it when I can.
Happy reading!

I’ve heard mixed things about Strange the Dreamer but after seeing the sequel here, I’m more interested in picking it up. Must put it on hold at the library.

I thoroughly enjoyed Strange the Dreamer. It was weird and wonderful, but Laini Taylor has an amazing way with words. I think it’s one of the best books I read this year.
But if you’re unsure, picking it up at the library is a great idea! That’s how I read it.

Ahhh, yes! I need to know how this ends as well. It’s been a whirlwind so far.
And I hope I get to read all of these and more! 🙂

I haven’t heard of most of these. I do have WIRES AND NERVE vol 1 and RENEGADES on my shelf, but I haven’t gotten around to either one of them. Hopefully soon.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
