Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Need to Reread

Every year, I read a lot of books but I don’t often spent time rereading. My memory isn’t that great, and sometimes only months after reading a book I can’t remember why I enjoyed it (or in some cases, didn’t enjoy it). So there are several books and series I want to reread, if anything but to experience the magic of the stories all over again.

(This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Books I Could Re-read Forever.)

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis: It’s been a while since I read through the entire series, and I’ve been telling myself for a while now that I need to reread it. I hope sometime soon I’ll find the time to pick up these stories again, since they are part of why I read today.

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien: Just like with Narnia, it’s been a while since I experienced the world of Middle-earth. Fortunately, I have plans to reread the series soon with a friend!

The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy: I only read this book last year, but I already know I want to reread it. I’ve been thinking about waiting until the end of October to read, since in the book they hold a special day around that time, but I don’t know if I can wait that long!

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: I absolutely love these books, but it’s been a while since I first picked them up. I recently read the graphic novels and they made me miss the world and characters even more than I thought.

The Circle series by Ted Dekker: It’s been years since I read a Ted Dekker book, and since I prefer his fantasy, I think I should revisit his Books of History Chronicles, starting with The Circle.

Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan: I miss my Camp Half-Blood (and Camp Jupiter) gang! Even though I’ve been able to step back into the world through the Trials of Apollo series, I still miss the original books. I think I need to find time to reread them or maybe listen to the audiobooks soon.

River of Time series by Lisa T. Bergren: This was one of my favorite series in high school, and it’s just been a while since I reread the entire series. I’m not sure I’m ready for the heartbreak of that final book, though.

Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones: I often tell people how much I love Howl’s Moving Castle, but to be honest, I don’t remember a whole lot of the story. Bits an pieces, especially the characters and the concept, but I’m definitely due for a reread and probably a continuation of the whole series.

Library Wars by Kiiro Yumi: I recently completed my manga collection of Library Wars so I think it’s the perfect time to reread them. Of course, I will have to reread them at home since I embarrass myself too much if I read them in public…

An Ember in the Ashes quartet by Sabaa Tahir: The next book in this series is coming out later this year, but I can barely remember what happened in the first two books. I need to reread them before I read A Reaper at the Gates!

What books do you need to reread or love to reread? Don’t forget to join the link-up!

  1. I recently re-read Howl’s Moving Castle, and it was as good as I remember it. (I hadn’t re-read it since watching the movie.) Now I need to re-read The Hobbit and LOTR. My re-reads of Narnia haven’t been as successful, though, because as an adult I see a lot of issues with them (race, gender, etc) that I didn’t notice when I was young. I hope you’re able to enjoy your re-reads without any problems!
