This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Thanksgiving/Thankful Freebie. Since the bookish world wouldn’t exist without all the many lovely authors, I decided to spotlight a few authors who are constantly making the world better today with their words. Because this list would be forever long, I narrowed it down to authors who are currently living and you should go follow on various social media platforms because they are amazing.
Mary Weber: Author of the Storm Siren trilogy, the Sofi Snow duology, and the upcoming To Best the Boys, Mary Weber is one of my favorite people I’ve never met. She continually loves and encourages her fans and the world, and she’s transparent and unashamed to discuss the ups and downs of life. She is an inspiring world model, and she has an awesome (and delicious) book club on Facebook that you should join.
Nadine Brandes: Author of Out of Time trilogy, Fawkes, and the upcoming Romanov, Nadine Brandes is a new author to me. But her Instagram account is gorgeous and her Youtube videos are fun and helpful, and she’s just the cutest.
Kayla Olson: Author The Sandcastle Empire and the newly released This Splintered Silence, Kayla Olson is wonderful. She is continually encouraging writers, and I love her perspective on things, whether that is books, world issues, or just every day life.
Lisa T. Bergren: Author of so many books that I couldn’t list them all, Lisa T. Bergren has been a long-time favorite author of mine. She is such an inspiring author for me because she strives to be genuine in her words and she is unashamed to write about faith. I love that her books feel authentic and not cheesy.
Emily Bain Murphy: Author of The Disappearances, Emily Bain Murphy is just the sweetest. Her Instagram account is dedicated to finding beauty everywhere and reminds me daily that there is so much life has to offer.
Maggie Stiefvater: Author of The Raven Cycle, The Scorpio Races, and more, Maggie Stiefvater is just freaking awesome. I mean, who else can get away with driving a cool car and wearing jeans and black tank tops to author signings? I love her books, art, and music, and I think she just makes the world a better place.
Rick Riordan: Author of the Percy Jackson series and more, Uncle Rick is someone to be cherished. His books are funny and educational, and they personally helped me understand various world mythology by having fun. Gosh, someone give that man a hug.
Marissa Meyer: Author of The Lunar Chronicles and the Renegades trilogy, Marissa Meyer is literally saving YA science-fiction one book at a time. Seriously. I had the privilege of meeting Marissa twice, and she is so nice and willing to listen despite how many people were in line before and after me. She also has a lot of great writing advice on her blog.
Ashley Poston: Author Geekerella and the Heart of Iron duology, Ashley Poston has shown me that it’s acceptable to fangirl over everything. Literally. I love her Instagram stories where she is continually freaking out when stores have her book in stock. It’s hilarious and relatable, and she is just all around a fun author.
Kristen Ciccarelli: Author of The Last Namsara and The Caged Queen, Kristen Ciccarelli’s books have stolen my heart. I love, love, love that her books are continually reminding the world that love trumps everything. (Also, she wrote about dragons and it was good!)
Maggie Stiefvater and Marissa Meyer are the only ones on your list that I’ve read. 😦 There’s never enough time though. Thanks for sharing the love!

Those are two great choices, though!
Thank you. 🙂

Great list! I’d include Neil Gaiman on it, if for no other reason than his amazing New Year’s Wishes. His 2011 Wish was possibly my favorite ever: http://journal.neilgaiman.com/2011/12/my-new-year-wish.html

I have yet to find a Neil Gaiman book I liked. Granted, I’ve only read two of them. I’ve been told to read Stardust and Neverwhere.

I didn’t like Stardust, though I partly blame that on loving the movie. (It’s generally acknowledged among people I’ve talked to that if you LOVE the movie, you won’t be satisfied with the book unless you read it before seeing the movie.)

I watched the movie a long time ago but I hardly remember it. I might read the book and then watch the movie again.

If you want to read the book, definitely do it before re-watching the movie. I hope you enjoy them both!

Great List! Definitely love Rick Riordan and Maggie Stiefvater. Mine includes Jay Kristoff, Laini Taylor and Leigh Bardugo

Laini Taylor and Leigh Bardugo are amazing, too! There are too many authors to just list ten, of course. I’ve only read the Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff, but I enjoyed them. I need to read more of his works.
