This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019. There are so many books coming out that I want to read! I made a list last month in preparation, and there are already seventy books I want to read. Seventy! Most of those come out during the first half of the year, so narrowing it down to ten was a bit of a challenge. I probably won’t get to all of them, but these are the ones I am most looking forward to this year.
Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee: This book is part of Rick Riordan presents, and I am stoked for a science-fiction story based on Korean mythology.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo: This is my most anticipated book of the year because I’ve been waiting for years for a book just about Nikolai Lantsov. I seriously cannot wait to read this book and I already pre-ordered it.
The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons: I don’t know a whole lot about this book but I heard “dragons” and came running. The plot sounds cool, but that cover is even better.
To Best the Boys by Mary Weber: I love everything Mary Weber writes and does, and I’m looking forward to this book. It’s her love letter to feminism for both girls and boys, and I cannot wait to enter the labyrinth!
Queen’s Shadow by E.K. Johnston: I feel like my five year-old self has been waiting for this book to be published. Padme will always be an important Star Wars character because she was the one who taught me that girls could fight and lead and make decisions.
Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan: I went to college with Emily, and I am so stoked that her book is being published! And man, that cover is gorgeous.
The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston: Geekerella is one of my favorite YA contemporaries, so I’m excited to dive back into the same world about different characters. I love the take on this fairy tale, and I cannot wait to see what happens in this story.
Romanov by Nadine Brandes: I quite enjoyed Fawkes by Nadine Brandes, so I’m excited to read another historical fantasy retelling. Come on, it’s Anastasia with magic!
Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff: I don’t even need to read a synopsis or see a book cover. If these two write a book together, I’m going to read it.
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson: I read Margaret’s first book, An Enchantment of Ravens, and enjoyed it thoroughly. So I’m excited to see what else she has to write!
Great list! I love these posts about anticipated releases. Enjoy all your 2019 reads!

I’m really looking forward to Dragon Pearl, too! And I didn’t know there was going to be another book in the Geekerella universe! I really have to read that first one now. 🙂

Yes! You should. It can be a little cheesy because something like that would never happen in real life but it was still fun to read.
Dragon Pearl looks so good!

Ooooh another Anastasia retelling this year! I love that all these books are branching out of the traditional retelling legends and exploring more modern stories; it’s so fun!

You went to college with the author of Wicked Saints? That’s so cool! That book is one of my most anticipated reads of 2019 also and I actually just got an ARC from Netgalley (I can’t wait to dive into it!)
King of Scars is also on my list! I need to read Crooked Kingdom first tho…
I didn’t include them on my list, but I’m also excited for Romanov and Sorcery of Thorns! How are there so many great sounding YA fantasies coming out this year?? I can’t handle all this excitement and anticipation! I just hope I’m not getting too hype for all these books tho.
Here’s my TTT post if ya wanna check it out:

The Anastasia story is so fascinating! I haven’t read any retellings about it, but I’m up for that even if magic/fantasy stories really aren’t my thing.
Happy TTT!
