Top Ten Tuesday: Inspirational Book Quotes

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Inspirational/Thought-Provoking Book Quotes. I am the queen of quotes. As I read books, I am always writing down quote that stick out to me, whether that’s by updating my progress on Goodreads, scribbling in a notebook, or trying to find something (scrap paper, my arm, etc.) to write it down on. It was hard to think of quotes for this post, though, and even harder to narrow it. Here are ten inspirational or thought-provoking quotes from books I love.

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” —The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

“Courage, dear heart.” —The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis

“As names have power, words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.” —The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

“Whoever said the female is the weaker of the species never tested that theory against the draw of a woman’s love.” —To Best the Boys by Mary Weber

“Aren’t there bits of magic everywhere we look? We’ve just stopped seeing it that way.” —The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy

“But of course we can’t take credit for our talents. It’s how we use them that counts.” —A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle

“Happiness isn’t something that depends on our surroundings, Corrie. It’s something we make inside ourselves.” —The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom

“There are moments that you’ll remember for the rest of your life and there are moments that you think you’ll remember for the rest of your life, and it’s not often they turn out to be the same moment.” —The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

“Isn’t it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive–it’s such an interesting world.” —Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

“The ADHD part of me wondered, off-task, whether the rest of his clothes were made the same way. What horrible things would you have to do in your life to get woven into Hades’ underwear?” —The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
