This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Book Characters I’d Love to Be Besties With. This was such a hard list to narrow down because there are so many characters I adore. Since I could only pick ten, I decided to focus on just female characters I’d want to be best friends.
Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery: I can’t have a BFF list without the ultimate bosom buddy. Can you imagine all the glorious fun I’d have with Anne by my side?
Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones: I’d want to be Sophie’s friend for a number of reason, mainly because we’re a lot alike. But I’ll admit I also want to be her friend so I can come visit the Moving Castle and Calcifer and Howl.
Winry Rockbell from Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa: I love Winry! She’s fun and stubborn and knowledgeable with mechanics. I think it would be a blast to be her friend.
Kamala Khan from Ms. Marvel by G. Willow Wilson: Kamala Khan just might be my favorite female superhero. (Though, I love Spider-Gwen too.) She’s a huge dork and fangirl and I think I would get along with her great. Plus, then I could tell people I know a superhero!
Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: Annabeth is one of the best characters Rick Riordan created. She’s smart and fun and doesn’t put up with Percy’s crap. I’d love to spend my days at Camp Half-Blood, following her around.
Polly Plummer from The Magician’s Nephew by C.S Lewis: I’ve always been drawn to Polly’s character, even as a kid. I love her loyalty to Digory despite his dumb choices and also her ability to clearly see right and wrong. She sounds like someone who is fun to be around, especially when looking for adventure.
Nina Zenik from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: I don’t know about you, but I think Nina would be a great friend to have you around. She’d give you endless encouragement but also tell you the truth. Plus, think of the waffle parties!
Elisabeth from Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson: I mainly want to be her friend so I have access to her library knowledge and the magic of the Thorn estate, but she’s a fantastic character as well.
Rhen Tellur from To Best the Boys by Mary Weber: Rhen is amazing. I love her sass and how much she does not care what about people think about her. Her relationship with her cousin shows she’d be a loyal and trustworthy friend.
Gabi and Lia from River of Time series by Lisa T. Bergren: For years after reading this series, I desperately wanted Gabi and Lia to be real and be my friends. I’d even time travel to medieval Italy to be their friends if I had to. The way they take hold of life and care for each other, no matter what is admirable. Plus, they’re both tall and gosh, there are not enough tall girls in books these days!
Great list! I’ve seen Elisabeth on so many lists this week, so clearly I need to read Sorcery of Thorns soon. Nina’s such a good choice – I adore her. 😀

Polly is pretty awesome! And Winry is an amazing friend. I don’t want to need her automail services, though. I’ll just take her as a friend. 😉

Agreed! I would strictly want to be friends with Winry (and her dog). No automail needed, please.

Ohh!!! So many good characters to BFF it up with. And aww Anne Shirley deserves all the love in the world and I get this cheesy, childlike smile anytime someone expresses love towards her. One of the best characters ever! And, ahhhh!!! I gotta do a little nod to Nina and Annabeth as well because they are totally wonderful and are great picks.

I feel like we have the same reasons for wanting to be friends with Sophie. xD She seems like she’d make a great friend, sure, but also visitation to that awesome castle, please. Plus, Cal is a sweetie. And I would love Howl, just in small doses, because I don’t do a lot of drama. Love Winry, too! She’d be awesome to hang out with. Great picks!
