This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Books I’ve Read That I’d Like In My Personal Library. This list is long. I try to keep track of books I read and hope to own someday via Goodreads, but I know I’m missing books or I decide I don’t want to own such and such anymore. But here are ten I hope to own.
The Chronicles of Narnia Barnes and Noble edition by C.S. Lewis: This edition of Narnia is absolutely stunning and no longer available. I’ve checked ebay and other used book websites and people are selling them for a ridiculous amount of money. Maybe someday Barnes and Noble will sell it again, but until then, I don’t think I’ll get a copy of this book.
Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini: Technically, I own half this series, but they’re in paperback with covers that don’t match the rest of the series paperbacks. (Why, publishers? Why?!) I’d like a brand new, hardcover set… whenever I have the money for it.
Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie: I own a lot of copies of Peter Pan the book, but I would love a copy of the actual play. But I don’t want a thin, script-type booklet of it. I want a specific copy from my university library or something like it.
Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien: The only copies of Lord of the Rings I own right now are various mass market paperbacks, some with movie covers, some that are old. Now, I don’t hate the covers since they are scenery and not faces, but I’d love to own a hardcover set of Lord of the Rings someday.
Jane Austen collection: Penguin has a beautiful boxed set of Jane Austen’s books. It’s a bit pricey (unless you divide the price by how many hardcover books you’re getting), but the covers are gorgeous.
Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland: I own a couple of these already, but in paperback. I saw what the hardbacks without covers, though, and I love them. So many colors! Such cool designs! I need!
Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa: I like to collect sets of my favorite manga and so far I only have one manga series in full. I’d love to own all the Fullmetal Alchemist manga since it was one of the first manga series I read and it’s such a great story, but twenty-seven volumes is a lot to buy. I do have the first volume in Japanese… but that doesn’t really help since I can’t read Japanese.
Anne series by L.M. Montgomery: I own a collection of the Anne books with these amazing covers, but for some reason, they didn’t release all of the books with these covers. (Copyright issues?) I’m missing three of the nine books so I hope they come out with them some day.
Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder: Like with the Anne books, a publisher released the first three Little House books with these special, hardback covers. But they didn’t do the rest. Why?! (I also love the Barnes and Noble collectible edition, but it’s only the first five books. Again, why!?)
MinaLima editions: MinaLima is a design company that has worked on Harry Potter movies, but they also design illustrated and interactive classic books. I own some of them already, but there are two I still need to complete my collection: The Secret Garden and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. They are gorgeous!

Great list! I didn’t start liking Austen’s work for a few years so I only own copies of Northanger Abbey, Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion, but I’d quite like to have copies of all of her novels so I can get around to reading them at some point. 🙂

Northanger Abbey is one of my favorites! I own a boxed set of her books that come in pastel colored covers, but they’re smaller than normal size books, so they’re kind of hard to read. Just pretty to look at.
I hope you have the chance to get copies! Emma is also one of my favorites.

I have a specific version of LOTR on my list this week, too. So pretty. I have several of the B&N special hardback editions of some books (Robin Hood, Jane Eyre, Sense & Sensibility) but I would love to own so many more of them. Oh well, maybe someday!

There are so many amazing B&N special hardback editions! I have several, but there are always more to get. 🙂

Yup! I just have to remind myself sometimes that I already own many of the books that B&N puts out special editions of. I still buy some of them, but I try to make sure it’s only the special ones and not ALL OF THEM. 😀

Yes! Same. They are pretty but I really don’t need to own the edition of a book I didn’t even like! Just the ones I want to read or I absolutely love.

I want to collect Fullmetal Alchemist manga too! Admittedly, I’ve only watched the anime, but I love it so much that I think I have to read the manga.

It’s such a great story! I’ve only watched the original anime and read the manga. I still need to watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which follows the manga more closely the first series.
