I was tagged by Nicole @ Book-Wyrm-Knits for this fun, holiday-themed drink tag. To make it easier to figure out answers for each prompt, I limited it to books I’ve read this year.
Rules:
- Link back to the original post
- Thank the person who tagged you (Thanks!)
- Do the prompts below
- Tag some friends
- Most importantly – have fun!
Pumpkin Spice Latte:
(a book you didn’t think you’d love)
I thought Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram was going to be one of those YA contemporary books that was over hyped. But I enjoyed it a lot and love Darius so much. I’m looking forward to the sequel next year!
Hot Apple Cider:
(a book that got you a bit hot under the collar)
For the most part, I enjoyed Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett, but there were a few aspects of the book that annoyed me to no end.
Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate:
(a book that felt like a warm hug)
Cold Day in the Sun by Sara Biren is an adorable YA contemporary about a girl playing hockey on the boys’ hockey team. The romance aspects are so fuzzy and I love the feminist angle because it isn’t to pushy or over the top.
(Also, I really need to try peanut butter hot chocolate. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of doing so before!)
Maple Pecan Latte:
(a book you enjoyed that was hard to get into)
I tried reading I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson at the beginning of the year but put it down because it seemed like it was trying too hard. I picked it up again this summer and pushed through. It turned out better than I expected.
London Fog:
(a vanilla character)
Jane Moore from Jane by April Lidner is one of the most plain characters I’ve read in a contemporary novel. It’s not surprising since Jane is a retelling of Jane Eyre.
Hot Buttered Run:
(a book that was velvety smooth to read)
As always, rereading The Chronicles of Narnia is a wonderful time. I will always love these stories.
Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew:
(a character whose temperament is icy cold)
Roa from The Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli has a cold temperament for most of the book. Fortunately, she learns to trust others and her own heart and she warms up a bit.
Salted Caramel Mocha:
(a book that you’re salty about)
If I start listing all the problems I had with Capturing the Devil by Kerri Maniscalco (and probably the rest of the series), the post will never end. So much wasted potential.
Honey Bee Latte:
(a character who is sweet)
My favorite character from The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater is Finn Connolly because he is the sweetest little brother ever. Plus, he’s pretty much the only one who believes in Puck, and I just love their sibling relationship.
Gingerbread Latte:
(a character you’d take home for Christmas)
This probably isn’t the wisest decision, but it would be the most entertaining: Apollo from The Trials of Apollo series by Rick Riordan. Come on! Who wouldn’t want a Greek god in human form to crash Christmas?

I’m glad you had fun with it! I’m a little scared of the thought of Apollo crashing Christmas, though. But it could be a fun short story prompt…

Then again, having just about any book characters crashing Christmas would make things interesting…
