Top Ten Tuesday: Sibling Love

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Love Freebie. Since the past years I’ve discussed my favorite female friendships and romantic couples, I decided to focus on sibling love instead. Here are ten of my favorite sibling relationships from literature.

Pevensies from The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis: Obviously, these four are some of my favorite siblings. When I reread the series last year, I noticed how much they act like real siblings.

Bennet Sisters from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen: Even if they don’t get along, I love how much the Bennet sisters care for one another. Yeah, Lydia makes poor choices, but Elizabeth never stops loving her. I particularly love the depictions of their relationship in the Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies adaptations.

Betarrini Sisters from the River of Time Series by Lisa T. Bergren: These two sisters are inseparable, and I love how devoted they are together. When I first read this series, Gabi and Lia reminded me of my own relationship with my sister, which made it all the more important.

Percy and Tyson from Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: While not a traditional brother relationship, Percy and Tyson are wonderful brothers. Once Percy learns to appreciate Tyson for who he is, they realize they will always have each other’s backs.

Ed and Al from Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa: These two. I love these two. They stick by each other through the good and bad. Yeah, they might bicker and make mistakes, but in the end, they always have each other’s back. Heck, Ed does whatever it takes to get his brother’s body back, which is incredible.

Ingalls sisters from The Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder: While Laura and Mary have their differences, they take care of each other and help one another learn and grow. I also love Laura’s relationships with her younger siblings, especially Carrie. She will do anything for her family, especially her sisters.

Connolly siblings from The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater: Most of the book, Puck is at odds with her brothers, but it’s easy to tell she cares because of how much she worries. And Finn! I’m convinced Finn Connolly is the best character of the book and it’s because of how much faith he has in his sister. I love it.

Meg and Charles Wallace from A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle: This sibling relationship is a no-brainer because Meg and Charles Wallace have such a unique relationship. Plus, Meg faces down the big baddie to save her brother. That’s true sibling love.

Katniss and Prim from The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins: The entire focus of the trilogy was about what Katniss constantly does for Prim. My heart hurts.

Lynch brothers from The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater: While Ronan Lynch isn’t my favorite character, I find his relationship with his brothers very interesting. Declan, Ronan, Matthew… these boys and their very complicated life problems.
