Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d Follow on Instagram

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Characters I’d Follow On Social Media. It’s probably embarrassing how easily I was able to make this list. But whatever.

Apollo from The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan: Okay, but how fun would it be to follow Apollo on Instagram? I mean, he might be a little upset with his human form having acne, but can you imagine him taking pictures while he’s fighting dead emperors and armies of monsters? “Oh, Camp Jupiter is under attack? Let me stop and take a selfie!”

Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery: I don’t know if Anne would be best followed on Instagram or Twitter, but I can imagine hipster-esque nature posts (though she’s not trying to be hipster at all) with magical, purple prose captions. Seeing the world from her point of view would be beautiful.

Kvothe from The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss: He probably wouldn’t post often, but when he does, it would be bragging about something incredible (or incredibly stupid) he did. #yolo

The Raven Boys from The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater: All five (Blue is included) would have very different accounts (Hipster for Gansey, poetic beauty from Adam, no posts except random blurry photos from Ronan, weird photography from Noah, and half-hipster/half-silly photos from Blue), but it would be a blast to read them commenting on each other’s posts.

Nikolai Lantsov from the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo: He would have a pristine Instagram account with a lot of beautiful selfies. *drools*

The Dregs from Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo: Again, this crew would have a variety of types of accounts but they’d all have perfectly curated aesthetics. Kaz’s would be all shadows and sharp corners, Inej would post about her knives and her friends, Nina’s would be photos of food and selfies, Matthias’s would be all Nina, Jesper’s would be probably something stupid he did, and Wylan’s would be cute selfies, poetic nature, and something blowing up. Someone should draw fanart for this.

Percy Jackson from Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: If Percy could use modern technology without attracting a hoard of mythical monsters, it would be so great. His account would be a mix of silly pictures Annabeth took, crazy demigod stuff, and blue food.

Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: Like Nikolai, Carswell Thorne’s accounts would be about himself and The Rampion. And maybe Cress, or she’ll just hack his account and insert pictures of them together for him.

Gabi and Lia Betterini from The River of Time Series by Lisa T. Bergren: If the Betterini sisters could find a portal to future technology, they’d have a lot to post about. All their crazy adventures in medieval Italy and all the knights they’ve befriended. Gabi would post about weapons and horses and Marcello while Lia would focus on art and architecture they discover.

Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien: Thorin would be an interesting one to follow. Selfies with his pony and the dwarves, all his adventures, a constant stream of ranting about how Erebor was taken from him… fun stuff!

  1. Anne would be such a fabulous person to follow on Instagram! It’d be so pretty to look at and read. (And I’d imagine her Instagram Stories would be full of fun anecdotes and accounts of mishaps!)

I didn’t know I needed the mental image of Thorne having an Instagram account but I love the idea.
