This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Titles That Would Make Good Band Names. Basically, I looked through a list of books I’ve read recently and imagined someone on stage shouting the title into a mic in front of an arena full of screaming fans to decide if it would work as a band name. Here are ten.
Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater: Clearly this band would include the Lynch Brothers and their honorary family members. Lots of angsty songs and ripped skinny jeans.
The Disasters by M.K. England: Angst, so much angst. And songs about space and life and broken hearts and unrequited love. They’d be a hit.
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: This band would be more indie and low key, but their songs would still have that vein of darkness fangirls love.
The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy: Your typical indie rock band. They have a lot of adoring fans, but never, ever tour in a city near you. Always coming out with free songs on Spotify or something.
An Acceptable Time by Madeleine L’engle: This band would be somewhat soulful, somewhat fun. They’d have songs about outer space and time travel and weirdness, but you’d like them after listening for a while.
Dread Nation by Justina Ireland: I’m thinking death metal kind of band. They all wear black and have shiny, shiny instruments.
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir: Yeah, this is another death metal type, but maybe a tad more colorful.
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys: Lowkey rock band. They aren’t widely known, but the fans they do have are loyal followers.
Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly: Overrated pop band. They’ve the ones with the crazy, ravid fans, merch at Hot Topic, and all the songs and posters everywhere.
This Splintered Silence by Kayla Olson: Solid techno-rock band with fun music and even better lyrics.
What book titles do you think would make good band names? Don’t forget to join the link-up!
Dread Nation almost made my list this week, too! Salt to the Sea, Call Down the Hawk and The Disasters are such good choices. Great list!

A lot of fantasy novel names do tend toward death metal bands, don’t they? 😀 I love The Disasters as a band name. And your description totally fits the feel.

Thank you!I don’t really know names of actual death metal bands, but those titles sure do sound like they could be. XD

The Disasters and The Disappearing both sound like the kind of moody, broody bands I already listen to!
Happy TTT!

Love your descriptions of these “bands”! Call Down the Hawk would be a terrific band name, though I probably would listen to Ninth House more.
