This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Books that Give Off Summer Vibes. I don’t usually read certain books based on the season, but there are some books that definitely fit with certain seasons. Here are ten that remind me of the summer!
Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett: Almost any of Jenn’s books have summer vibes, probably because most of them take place in the summer, but Alex, Approximately has such summer vibes with the beach town setting and that cover.
Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn: These books were some of my favorites in high school. The first one takes place in summer, but most of the series is set in California and the whole surfer boyfriend vibe definitely makes me think these books are perfect to read in the summer.
Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie: Maybe it’s the Neverland setting or the idea of never growing up, but Peter Pan always makes me think of summer.
Once Upon a Con series by Ashley Poston: A lot of cons take place in the summer or in warm climates, so of course this series fits with those summer vibes!
Holes by Louis Sachar: I don’t really know what time of year this book takes place but the desert setting and the “camp” vibes come across summery to me. Nothing like a multi-generational family curse to celebrate summer!
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis: Each of the Narnia books fits into a different season. Voyage always makes me think of summer with the bright sunshine and sea voyage adventure.
River of Time series by Lisa T. Bergren: These books start off as a summer vacation for Gabi and Lia and while I know they don’t all take place in the summer, the whole Italian vibe will always make me associate these with summer.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: Other than the third book, these take place during the summer and the demigod adventures just fits with that vibe.
Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder: Again, not all of the events in these books take place in the summer, but there’s something about open skies and plains and traveling by covered wagon that makes me think of summer over the other seasons.
The Queen’s Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner: I’m not sure what seasons this world has, but the world-building details remind me of summer more than anything else.
Great list! I love Holes and it’s definitely a book which always makes me think of summer. 🙂

Totally agree about Voyage – since they are on a ship mostly! Little House books as well – very summery books!

I’ve seen ALEX, APPROXIMATELY on a number of lists today. Not surprising! That swimming pool cover definitely screams summer.
