Top Ten Tuesday: Fantasy Jobs I Wish I Had

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of this prompt, but then as I thought about it, I realized how fun this prompt could be. These are mostly ridiculous and would never be a thing in our world, but hey, it’s okay to daydream, right?

Dragon rider from Fireborne by Rosaria Munda: I mean, who doesn’t want to ride around on a dragon all day? These riders work hard for their rank, but dragons, people, dragons.

Professional burglar from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien: If I was hobbit, I’d like to think I’d make a good burglar like Bilbo. I can be quiet and sneaky, and who wouldn’t want to be hired to go on an adventure?

Library Defense Force from Library Wars: Love & War by Kiiro Yumi: Even though some aspects of this job seem dangerous, I’d totally love working to defend libraries and the freedom to information! If Kasahara can do it, I can too. Right?

Dragonkeeper from Dragonkeeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul: Again, draaaaagons. How cool would it be if you could sense when dragon eggs are nearby and your presence makes them hatch? Come on, that’s so cool!

Royal thief from The Queen’s Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner: This may or may not be a dangerous job, but can you imagine how fun it would be to sneak around for the royal crown? I mean, you’ve got the God of thieves on your side as well!

She-wolf / Lady of the castle from River of Time series by Lisa T. Bergren: It would definitely be terrifying to land in 14th century Italy with absolutely no way to defend myself, but if I could fight, it’d be so epic to rule a castle and be revered as a She-Wolf for my skills. One can dream pretty big while reading books.

Paranormal detective from Jackaby by William Ritter: Something about being a detective has always sounded appealing, but instead of murder, it’d be fun to solve mysteries that involve supernatural creatures!

Professional superhero from Renegades by Marissa Meyer: Okay, but who hasn’t dreamed of being a superhero or having superpowers before? To do it, professionally would be epic.

Warden of the Great Libraries from Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson: So this is basically my job (librarian) but in a magical library a la Hogwarts and the Beast’s Castle. I need it. Why isn’t this real?

Pirate? Lost Boy? Fairy? All the above? from Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie: Honestly, I don’t care what my job is. Just take me to Neverland already!

What “fantasy” jobs would you like to have? Don’t forget to join the link-up!

    • Oh, definitely! They’d be scary but hopefully the fun would outweigh the scary? Maybe? I hope so!

And that’s awesome that you also had superheroes! 🙂

    • I’m rereading the series now and I think I’m going to finally admit it’s my favorite manga series ever. I love so many (for different reasons, different genres), but I just can’t with these characters and story. XD
