This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Characters I’d Love An Update On (Where are they now that the book is over?). I definitely wonder why might happen with some of these characters, so this is an interesting prompt to make a list for. Spoilers may be included below!
Any Kara Thomas character: Like guilt is a real thing and these books always end with some kind of shocking twist and I’m just curious if anybody ever confesses the truth or how the trauma of what they experienced affected them later in life.
Rhen from To Best the Boys by Mary Weber: Did she finish college? Did she make any world changing discoveries? Did she marry Lute?! I need answers!
Sadie from Sadie by Courtney Summers: What the actual heck happened to her?!
All the characters from Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng: Did they ever see each other again? Did they ever try to track each other down and talk about what went down that one year? Did they ever find Izzy? Ugh, that ending makes me crazy.
Lucy’s mom from The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord: I know the entire point of the book is that we don’t know what happens to Lucy’s mom but gosh darn it, I want to know if she lives or dies!
The Baudelaires from A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket: It’s been a while since I read the last book, so I think there’s a hint at what happens to them, but I still want to know everything they did once they were rid of Olaf’s schemes.
Ramona Quimby from the Ramona Quimby books by Beverly Cleary: I just want to know what teen and adult Ramona was like. Did she keep her quirks and fun? Did she become a great mother or an awesome aunt? What did she do with all her creativity? Did she marry Henry Huggins like she said she would??? Because honestly I could see it!
Jane Austen couples: Look, I just want to know if Lizzie and Darcy have kids or if Fanny and Edmund ever escape from their toxic family life or what happens to everybody after they get married and have their happily ever after.
Sean and Puck from The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater: So I totally don’t want or need a sequel to this book. I love how it works as a standalone, but I am curious as to what happens next with the characters. Do they get married? Does Sean start his own stables using Corr? Do they ever race again? What happens to Finn and Gabe? I want to know what they do next, but I don’t want an entire book about it. Unless it’s about Finn. I would totally read a book about Finn.
Anne and Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery: I know the entire series shows a lot about what happens with Anne and Gilbert. They get married, they have kids, their kids grow up a bit. But I want to know what Anne and Gilbert are like when they’re old older. When their kids are married and have kids. When Gilbert retires from being a doctor. When they’ve got gray hair. I want to read about all the years of their lives and what they’d be like decades later.
Updates on the Beaudelaires, Ramona Quimby, Lizzy and Mr. Darcy? Yes, please! My post: https://pagesandpaws.com/2021/11/23/11-characters-wed-love-to-get-updates-on/

Great list! I didn’t even think about it until I started reading these lists, but I also really want to see some kind of follow-up on the Austen characters. For example, I can’t imagine that Emma never meddled in her kids’ friendships or relationships. 😉

That would be so fun to read about! Even though I know she “learned” her lesson about being rude, I do agree that I don’t think she would stop meddling completely.

It would be such a hard habit to break! Especially since helping and meddling are so close together… 😉

So much yes to so many of these characters! I still really want to know what happened to Sadie too! And yes, the Austen couples AND the characters from LFE! Super list 😍

I love Anne and Gilbert, but apparently not enough to actually finish the Anne series! LOL. I’ve read the first book numerous times and I listened to both two and three this year. I need to keep going, but none of them so far are as good as the first one, unfortunately.
Happy TTT!

Yes, I agree book one is definitely the best. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the rest of the series when I read them as an adult. (I would have hated them as a kid.) But some are definitely better than others! 🙂

The Austen couples are a popular pick this week—for good reason!

I never thought about it, but yes, I would love to know what Ramona was like as a teen, young adult, and adult.
