Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I (Still) Need to Read

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Authors I Haven’t Read, But Want To. This list is… long. I have tons and tons of authors I want to read still. Here are some I hope to get to this year.

Isabel Ibanez: I’ve heard so many good things about Woven in Moonlight that I just need to pick it up already.

Charles de Lint: A friend of mine keeps telling me to read his books so I should.

Brigid Kemmerer: I’ve been wanting to read A Curse So Dark and Lonely for a while but was waiting until the whole series was out. Guess it’s time to get started.

Christina Henry: Her retelling ideas fascinate and also worry me. I’m considering listening to the audiobook versions.

N.K. Jemisin: I feel like everybody has read The Fifth Season and I need to as well.

Brandon Sanderson: Yeah, I don’t know how I haven’t read a Sanderson book yet. Because they’re so long? And most of the series are unfinished? I think I’m going to start with Skyward because YA + SF seems much more manageable and I just found the first two books for 50 cents each at a book sale.

Pierce Brown: I’ve probably had Red Rising on my TBR list for far too long.

Victoria Aveyard: I’m not sure I’ll go back to read the Red Queen series but I’m interested in her new books. Once the series is completed, of course.

Rachelle Dekker: I’ve been curious about Ted Dekker’s daughter’s books for a while. I own one of them so I should hop to it.

George MacDonald: I’m interested to read the writing that inspired Tolkien and Lewis and many other fantasy authors. I have a few of his books to get me started.

  1. I feel you! My list today probably could have been a Top 100. I’ve only read Sanderson from your list. I love his Mistborn series, even though I’m not much of a SFF reader. I actually DNF’d SKYWARD because I got bored with it. I may go back to it at some point, but maybe not. We’ll see. Anyway, I hope you enjoy all these authors when you get to them.

    Happy TTT!

    • Hahah yes, most of my entire Goodreads To-Read shelf could make this list.

And I’ll keep that in mind with whatever book I try by Sanderson. Some books just work and some don’t for different readers. 🙂

    • Jemisin has been a on a lot of lists this week, so I’m guessing people have heard good things and just haven’t gotten around to her.

And someone else said they didn’t get past book two in the Red Queen series either! That’s interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂

      • So many authors to read, it’s hard to get to them all. I’ve heard quite a few people say it, it seems to be a fairly natural jumping off point in a four book series if you’re not enjoying it, I guess. No problem 🙂
