This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Typographic Book Covers (Book covers with a design that is all or mostly all words. You can also choose to do books with nice typography if that’s easier!) I did something similar to this not too long ago, so instead of just pointing out books with cools fonts, I want to highlight books with fonts that caught my eye. The kind of font that drew me to the book more than anything else on the cover.
Small Spaces series by Katherine Arden

The covers for this series are great for many reasons, but the font choice for each one totally captures that spooky vibe for the season each book is about.
Race to the Bottom of the Sea by Lindsay Eagar

I talk about this book a lot but that’s because I love it a lot. The font just captures that cover.
Caraval by Stephanie Garber

I don’t think this book would look quite the same without that fancy font taking over most of the cover.
Invictus by Ryan Graudin

I love the type of font, the color, and the way it’s slanted across the cover.
Montague Siblings series by Mackenzi Lee

Maybe it’s because I’m not a huge fan of real people on covers, but the font choice along with the little illustrations make these covers so good.
Warcross by Marie Lu

I mean, this one is an easy explanation. The font IS the cover design.
The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle

So many Barnes and Noble Exclusive Classics have such cool fonts and covers, but this one really catches my eye with the large letters.
Monsters of Verity by Victoria Schwab

I don’t think until I really looked at these covers that I realized there was more to it than the font. Oops.
Clash of Kingdoms by Erin Summerill

I think I mentioned before that the entire reason I wanted to read this series was because of the fonts.
The Evaporation of Sofi Snow by Mary Weber

There’s just something about the style and the way the words are broken up on this cover that is so cool and memorable.
I love love love the covers for the Small Spaces series. Those are so unique!

Yes! I love how they capture the aesthetic of each book yet still look like they’re part of the same series.

Great list! I hadn’t noticed that the Schwab books had pictures behind the text until you mentioned it, either. I noticed the color of course, but not that it was an actual picture. And I fully understand your thoughts on the Clash of Kingdoms covers! That’s such a good use of an appropriate font.

I got Small Spaces for my Giftmas in July, but I haven’t read it yet. And I love the cover for Warcross, even if I didn’t think the book was as good as the cover!
