Book Spotlight: The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston

Welcome to book spotlight where instead of giving you another book review, I’m just going to talk about books I’ve read recently that I enjoyed. Prepare yourself for the fangirl gushing.

I don’t normally read adult romance for various reasons. But I will always give Ashley Poston’s books a chance, and gosh darn it, I loved The Dead Romantics. Since I don’t normally read this genre, I can’t really compare it and say it’s a great adult romance (though based on reviews, New York Times Bestseller list, all the book clubs that picked it, I think it is). All I know is that I enjoyed it immensely.

First off, I love Florence. I love her relatable, adorable life.  I love that she’s a ghostwriter that falls in love with a ghost. I love that she sees ghosts. I love that her dad also saw ghosts and was a mortician. I love all the ghost puns and death jokes and gallows humor throughout the book. I love so many other things related to ghosts and her dad and ghostwriting that I can’t mention without spoiling some really awesome twists.

I love Ben. I love that he reminds me of Adam Driver/Ben Solo (and you can’t convince me otherwise that Ashley didn’t use him as inspiration). I love the banter between them and all the shenanigans that happen.

I love Alice. I love the rest of the Day family. I love how quirky and fun everybody is. I love all the details poured into the story and all the memories and just how everything flows from one thing to another in the story. I love that Ashley made reference to her other books with Jessica Stone being included in the story.

This was a fun book. A little spicy, but super cute and fun. I will definitely read more adult romance by Ashley Poston in the future.
