This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book. I couldn’t think of anything significant for this since most of the reasons are typical responses (cover, synopsis, author, recommendations, etc.) So instead of doing a Top Ten Tuesday post this week, I’m going to jump onto a fun idea I saw from Nicole @ Book-Wyrm-Knits: Goodreads Books I Don’t Remember.
(There are actually a few of April’s Top Ten Tuesday prompts I don’t have ideas for, so I might be posting a little differently this month.)
Since I have a lot of books I’ve added without concrete read dates, I’m only starting with books that I supposedly read since I created a Goodreads account, not all the books I read as a kid that I added later. Here are the first ten I don’t remember:
Fang by James Patterson: I have a vague memory of reading this but after book four or five of the Maximum Ride series, they all blur together and I don’t remember which book I stopped on. I think it was this one, but I couldn’t tell you what happens in it.
Remote Control by Jack Heath: This is a sequel to another book I don’t really remember. I know it was about a spy and their code names were from a deck of cards, but nothing else. The covers are cool, though.
Illuminated by Matthew Bronleewe: Something about an old book… that’s all I’ve got.
Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione by Chuck Black: I think I read this because it was about a knight and a castle, but I don’t even know what happened. I do remember being sorely disappointed in it.
Just Another Girl by Melody Carlson: I’ve read so many Melody Carlson books that they kind of all just blur together in the end. Just Another Melody Carlson Book, I guess.
Lord Sunday by Garth Nix: The only thing I can remember about this book is I was angry with the ending. I waited to so long to read through all the “days” and this is what I get?! I don’t even remember what I got, but it wasn’t what I wanted.
Ellen Tibbits by Beverly Cleary: I’m usually good at remembering Beverly Cleary books, but I didn’t read this one over and over like I did the Ramona or Henry Huggins books.
Otis Spofford by Beverly Cleary: Same as Ellen Tibbits, I don’t remember this book at all.
The Siege of Macindaw (and other Rangers Apprentice books) by John Flanagan: There are so many Rangers Apprentice books and I read so many of them that I cannot remember most of them. I don’t think I finished the series because I got to a point where I was just done and the author was still writing more.
Found by Margaret Haddix Peterson: I honestly have no idea what this book is about. I stared at the cover for a long time trying to remember, and it doesn’t look familiar at all. The author’s name sounds familiar, though.
Which books on your Goodreads list do you have trouble remembering?
I was just thinking this morning that I should do an end-of-year review where I talk about the books I read in 2019 and already forgotten about. Great list!

If you want to check out the books I forgot from 2018, I made a post about that today: https://ichleseblog.wordpress.com/2019/04/09/top-ten-tuesday-forgettables-of-2018/

I have so many books I can’t remember reading! Most of them are kind of the same reason as you had with Fang. When I taper out on a long series all the books blur together and I am not always sure the last book I read

Oh man, there are so many like that for me too. There are books I read probably like a month ago and don’t remember that well. BUT then there will be a book I read when I was 10 and I could tell you everything about it. It’s weird. Brains and memory are weird.

Oh my gosh, that would be so many books. I have serious book amnesia.

I know! This is just ten from my first year on Goodreads (2011!) I can’t imagine how many more books will be included on this ongoing list.
